A Life of Faith, Adventure, Courage, and Tenacity, Anna Thiessen 1916-2015

……………………………………………………

Anna was the 7th child and the 5th daughter born on April 20, 1916 to John and Katherine Redekop. They lived near Herbert, Saskatchewan. Anna lost her mother when she was 2 in the Spanish Flu epidemic. A short time later, John joined a number of other people from the area and moved to Mexico with his young family. Life was very hard there and after a brief period, her father also died when she was 9 years of age. After 5 years in Mexico the children traveled back to Saskatchewan and Anna lived with a married sister for a time. By the age of 14, she was out working and supporting herself mostly as a domestic. That was how she came to meet and marry Harry Dick in 1937. They spent most of their married life in Ernfold, Sk. where they owned and operated a garage and raised a family of 4:Dorothy, Gordon, Marlene and Randy.

Anna’s cooking was amazing! Her meals were wonderful and she was famous for her buns and pies. She was always active in church teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and working with the ladies auxiliary. She grew a wonderful garden: canning and freezing filled summer and autumn days. She was also gifted when it came to sewing; making over items her children needed was her specialty.

She was a Godly woman tremendously devoted to her husband and children, making sure they all attended Sunday school and DVBS. Anna took great joy in the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that blessed her through the years. Her entire family have been eternally blessed by her faithful prayers. She was a loving and giving person-with such an internal and external glow. Anna was a true representation of authentic beauty.

In 1992, Anna and Harry moved to Carman, Manitoba. Sadly, Harry passed away in 1995. After 6 years, Anna found love again and married Jacob Thiessen in 2001. They had 11 years together before Jake passed in 2012. Shortly after that Anna moved into the Boyne Lodge. At noon on Monday October 26th, Anna left this world and finally met her Saviour face to face.

She will be lovingly missed, her memory will be carried on by all her loved ones.

Anna was predeceased by all her siblings, her husbands, Harry and Jacob, her son Randy (1978), her grandson Michael (1983) and her son in law, Ron Stevenson (2002).

She is survived by:
